How The Ascension Explains The Bible & Gives Hope Acts 1:1-11

“On this Ascension day we will either recognize Christ’s Complete Supremacy and be transformed through our union with Him, or we will see Him deliver His kingdom to those who will!”

Imagine coming to this country for the very first time on the 4th of July and being taken to a fireworks display without knowing the significance of the day. You would see amazing fireworks and stunning displays of color and sound, but in one sense they would be meaningless because they are out of context unless we know that they signal a celebration of Independence Day in these United States.

In the same manner, unless we understand the significance of our Lord’s Ascension in Acts 1, the chapters before and the chapters following in the rest of the Book of Acts and the struggles of the Early Church and subsequent church history become exciting vignettes, anecdotes, and the story of Pentecost let alone the Book of Revelation may be interesting fireworks – but they lose their meaning because without Christ’s ascension they have no context.
